The results of the FONDEF D06i1026 project carried out at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile by the research team of this proposal, show a biomaterial constituted by micro porous particles with an innovative and potentially revolutionary geometric design in the area of bone grafts, to its geodesic shape and calculated porosity. On the other hand, as a complement to this experience, and through the development of tissue engineering research protocols, researchers from the Institute of Biological and Medical Engineering of the same university, have been able to evaluate the osteoinductive and osteoconductive properties of these particles.
This particle of bone filling would be aimed at satisfying the surgical needs of orthopedic surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons and implantologists, facing the challenge of filling defects or bone cavities with good prognosis, especially if they are large volume.
